Micro to small industry Key Person from Quality QMS approach

Its a pretty much time from my last post. So decided to write about something about one of  circumstances that I face regularly and frequently. 

Many times we see that small vendor companies that supply material to their renowned customer THAT MAKES IT MANDATORY TO HAVE CERTIFICATION OF ANY QMS at their vendor. The certificate can be ISO  or TS or Food certificate . Customers provide support to their vendor by conducting various training programs from time to time in order to have good quality system at vendor end. Many Vendors go or follow that way in proper manner. 

But some small vendors face a stage for some duration described below. The more the duration of such stages, the more are chances you(small vendors) loose more business or incur losses.

What do you think about Micro and Small scale industry where there is a lot of  regular customer work, staff is limited and the role of staff is not defined officially. Or even if defined , no one is taking care of following them professionally. No one is actually recording a person's work in addition to his regular work. So at this point , what will you do if you are from quality assigned person ? Will you insist owner /MD of the company to go for QMS seriously if owner wants to carry out business as it as assuming all things are okay.  YES YOU MUST UNDERLINE THE AUTHOIRTY TO GO FOR PROPER QUALITY MANAGMENT SYSTEM seriously. You have to have persuade him for it. BUT AGAIN there is a chance that you are thinking  :  " How Owner is so cool ? Don't he need proper system ? Or else he don't want to spend a penny on it ?" ...The answer to these question can be answered in one line. YES. YOU ARE RIGHT... 😦 Oh....  May I wrote it correctly ? 

Now thinking from Owners point of view , his approach to QMS is pretty clear. ANY OWNER WOULD LIKE TO HAVE EFFECTIVE QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTM in his/her organisation. So why appears cool ? The reason may be :-

1) He / She might already  tried for effective QMS in his organisation. He/she might have found loop holes which would be result in bad impression than present ongoing system.

2) The buyer (previous word ' Purchaser' or 'Purchase Manager' ) of customer side is just satisfied to have his supplier official QMS Certificate like ISO Certificate rather than any established system. Having official QMS certificate does not guaranty of  actual effective QMS in place.It just provides evidance at a specific timeframe.

3)  The present staff is so deeply involved in daily routine, its difficult to spare time to such concept.

4) Misconception that 'Product Quality' is more important than 'Process Quality.' 

At this point Quality care taking person should also concentrate on system quality along with product quality by himself or herself. He / She should record process quality data as actual separately for at least 3 months.  He/she should not disclose these things to any other person till the end of decided period. 

The most important thing is after end of three months, quality person should scrutinize all the data he collected. He / She should check what advantages would have company got ,had there been proper QMS in place. All data must be be numeric where figures should represent the profit company could have. With proper documentation ,quality person should arrange meeting with high authority or owner. After presenting proper factual data, the owner will get your point in a proper way and a hurdle to have effective QMS will be eliminated.

Although there is no need of  'Management Representative (MR)' right now as per relevant standards, still his work to inspire staff or other companions has to be carried out by 'Quality care taken person'  .The onus lies on him/her to conjure a picture of proper quality system across the organisation. This is possible only with the help of systematic approach of Key person towards Quality Management System as per different work culture offered by that organisation.

An an example ,I would like to share two photos clicked by me. In a small scale company, where we started training by one company employee to the company operator. Knowledge sharing do help finally to the organisation to grow with a sound working culture.
